Everything you need to know about the new parking management system:

  • The Municipality recently appointed a new service provider, Street Parking Solutions (SPS), to manage public parking in the Stellenbosch CBD from 1 April 2019;
  • Street Parking Solutions is an experienced parking management company that has successfully been managing public parking in the City of Cape Town since 2009;
  • All parking marshals employed by the service provider in Stellenbosch must be a resident of the Stellenbosch Municipality;
  • SPS trains the parking marshalls and has 13 years experience in the training of parking marshalls;
  • All persons employed by SPS must be subjected to SAPS background checks;
  • Officials may not accept cash as a method of payment. Should this happen, please inform the municipality immediately;
  • Officials do not have to take photos of your card. Should this happen, please inform the municipality immediately;
  • The new cashless payment system is far safer and more convenient – payment can be made via debit card, credit card, tap-and-go MyCiti card or SnapScan;
  • Prepaid cards are available from the SPS office (Corner of Andringa and Crozier Streets, next to Specs Eye Care);
  • The cards cost R30 each and can be loaded with an amount ranging between R15 and R1500 (Please make use of the EMV – standard option when toppoing up cards and not the mover option). Cards can also be topped up at any ABSA ATM;
  • We are in the process of making the MyCiti cards available at more outlets around the CBD;
  • There are NO bank charges for the customer’s account when paying for parking- that cost lies with the service provider;
