Stellenbosch Municipality joins the nation in mourning the heartbreaking and untimely passing of former Stellenbosch Football Club midfielder and Bafana Bafana star, Jayden Adams.
Jayden wore the maroon jersey of Stellenbosch FC with immense pride from 2020 to 2025, becoming one of the club’s most admired players and an inspiration to countless young people across our community.
His remarkable talent, dedication and humble character earned him the respect of teammates, supporters and football lovers throughout South Africa.
Executive Mayor Jeremy Fasser said:
“Today, Stellenbosch has lost one of its own. Jayden’s journey from a gifted young footballer to representing South Africa on the international stage gave hope to so many aspiring athletes. While his life has been tragically cut short, his legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of our community and in every young footballer who dares to dream.”
Our thoughts and prayers are with Jayden’s family, friends, teammates, coaches, Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bafana Bafana and everyone whose lives he touched.
On behalf of the people of Stellenbosch, we extend our deepest and most sincere condolences. We are grateful for the joy, pride and unforgettable memories Jayden brought to our town and to South African football.
