The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has confirmed that you MUST vote at the voting station where you are registered. Unless you have applied for and received approval for a Section 24A vote to cast your ballot at a different station, you must go to your designated station. If you attempt to vote at any other station, you will be turned away and directed to your registered voting station. In past elections, voters could vote on the national ballot at any station, but this is no longer allowed due to the 2021 Electoral Amendment Act.

Organised by the Cape Winelands District Municipality, the Golden Games is an initiative of the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport (DCAS). This year’s event, held at the Dal Josaphat Stadium in Paarl, was a fantastic success!

Stellenbosch Municipality was proudly represented by 400 elderly residents from Franschhoek, Wemmershoek, La Motte Bosbou, Pniel, Lanquedoc, Kylemore, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Vlottenburg, Raithby, Klapmuts, and Jamestown. Participants from other B-municipalities in the Cape Winelands also joined, making it a grand celebration of community spirit.

A huge congratulations to our team for their incredible performance with 28 podium finishes and 10 gold medals! ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿฅ‡๐Ÿ‘

A heartfelt thank you to all the organisers, sponsors, and, of course, the participants for making this event unforgettable.

Well done Team Stellenbosch!

Welcome

Stellenbosch lies roughly 50 km to the east of Cape Town and is - after the Mother City - the oldest town in South Africa.

The 900 square kilometres municipal area is internationally renowned for its beautiful environment, many places of interest, wine farms, street cafes, restaurants, quality wines, historical buildings and excellent educational institutions.

The major portion of the area is utilised for agriculture (mainly wine production) and it includes the major towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as settlements such as Klapmuts, Koelenhof, Kylemore, Johannesdal, Pniel, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown and Raithby.
