President Ramaphosa announced on 30 September that the country will be on Adjusted Level 1 lockdown from 1 October 2021. I welcome this news! The best way to ensure that our businesses and restaurants remain open, is to stick to the rules. October is a beautiful time of the year, quite possibly the prettiest month of the year. October is also the month in which we commemorate breast cancer awareness. I’ll be wearing my pink ribbon for the many women who have been affected by this disease. Stay safe and stay blessed.

Water supply interrupted to Raithby due to emergency repairs by City of Cape Town

The City of Cape Town has informed Stellenbosch Municipality that they are shutting down water supply to the Raithby area with immediate effect for the next 24 hours, due to an emergency.

This decision was taken by the CoCT due to the the chlorine dosing system at their Faure Water Treatment Plant that is malfunctioning.

Stellenbosch Municipality will immediately implement steps to provide water to the affected areas by means of a watertanker that will roam the area.

We apologise for this inconvenience but this is due to an unforeseen emergency and therefore earlier notice was not possible.

Welcome

Stellenbosch lies roughly 50 km to the east of Cape Town and is - after the Mother City - the oldest town in South Africa.

The 900 square kilometres municipal area is internationally renowned for its beautiful environment, many places of interest, wine farms, street cafes, restaurants, quality wines, historical buildings and excellent educational institutions.

The major portion of the area is utilised for agriculture (mainly wine production) and it includes the major towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as settlements such as Klapmuts, Koelenhof, Kylemore, Johannesdal, Pniel, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown and Raithby.
