Please note that the Infrastructure Services Directorate plans to construct a new bridge over the Dwars River near Lanquedoc and upgrade the Lanquedoc access road.

The work is expected to commence around the 29th of July 2024 and the construction period is anticipated to be 12 months. Traffic will be accommodated on the existing road and bridge.

Stellenbosch lies roughly 50 km to the east of Cape Town and is - after the Mother City - the oldest town in South Africa.

The 900 square kilometres municipal area is internationally renowned for its beautiful environment, many places of interest, wine farms, street cafes, restaurants, quality wines, historical buildings and excellent educational institutions.

The major portion of the area is utilised for agriculture (mainly wine production) and it includes the major towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as settlements such as Klapmuts, Koelenhof, Kylemore, Johannesdal, Pniel, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown and Raithby.
