πŸŽ‰βœ¨ This year, the iconic Oom Samie se Winkel celebrates 120 years! Opened in 1904, it has been a cornerstone for the residents of Stellenbosch for over a century. Before the era of supermarkets and shopping malls, general dealers like Oom Samie se Winkel were the go-to places for a range of essentials and luxuries.

Part grocer, part tobacconist, part spice merchant, part tea and coffee seller, and part confectioner, Oom Samie se Winkel has preserved the character and charm of a traditional general dealer. It still offers the same goods as it did in the past, maintaining its historic appeal.

🌟 Visit Oom Samie se Winkel on Dorp Street and experience a journey through time with a traditional general dealer that keeps the heritage of yesteryear alive. Don’t miss out on this unique slice of history!

Welcome

Stellenbosch lies roughly 50 km to the east of Cape Town and is - after the Mother City - the oldest town in South Africa.

The 900 square kilometres municipal area is internationally renowned for its beautiful environment, many places of interest, wine farms, street cafes, restaurants, quality wines, historical buildings and excellent educational institutions.

The major portion of the area is utilised for agriculture (mainly wine production) and it includes the major towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as settlements such as Klapmuts, Koelenhof, Kylemore, Johannesdal, Pniel, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown and Raithby.
