🚨 Public Warning: Beware of Scammers Posing as Stellenbosch Municipality Employees 🚨

Dear Residents,

Stellenbosch Municipality has once again become aware of a scam targeting our community. Fraudsters are posing as municipal employees and sending messages, primarily via WhatsApp, claiming to be the “Head of Disconnection.” These scammers threaten service disconnections due to alleged account arrears.

⚠️ Important Facts:

No such position exists within our organization.
The Municipality will never send disconnection messages via WhatsApp or social media.
If your municipal account is genuinely in arrears, we will contact you formally and discuss a payment plan.

βœ… What You Should Do:

Do not engage with anyone on WhatsApp or social media claiming to be from the municipality.
Stay vigilant and protect your personal information.
For any queries related to your municipal account, please email our Finance Team at enquiries.navrae@stellenbosch.gov.za.

Stay safe and informed!

Welcome

Stellenbosch lies roughly 50 km to the east of Cape Town and is - after the Mother City - the oldest town in South Africa.

The 900 square kilometres municipal area is internationally renowned for its beautiful environment, many places of interest, wine farms, street cafes, restaurants, quality wines, historical buildings and excellent educational institutions.

The major portion of the area is utilised for agriculture (mainly wine production) and it includes the major towns of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek as well as settlements such as Klapmuts, Koelenhof, Kylemore, Johannesdal, Pniel, Kayamandi, Cloetesville, Ida’s Valley, Jamestown and Raithby.
