On 31 January 2026, the Ulwamkelo Lobhuti Abatsha engagement was successfully held at Amazink, Kayamandi. This is an initiave of Stellenbosch Municipality’s Community Development Department, in collaboration with the Gentlemen Club.A key focus of the engagement was Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF). The space allowed for open and honest conversations about the realities faced in our community and emphasised the critical role men can and MUST play in standing up against GBV. Men were encouraged to lead with respect, accountability and positive values – to actively challenge harmful behaviors and norms. The event was enriched by the participation of both young and older men, who shared their experiences, wisdom and lessons.
