We have noted that some residents are dissatisfied with their water bills, and the Municipality would like to highlight the following points:

1) Whenever feasible, meter readers visit each property to collect monthly meter readings.

2) In cases where our staff cannot access a premises, an average estimate is made, and residents have the option to dispute this estimate.

3) Residents also have the option to submit their own water and electricity readings using the π˜”π˜Ί π˜”π˜Άπ˜―π˜ͺ𝘀π˜ͺ𝘱𝘒𝘭 π˜”π˜¦π˜΅π˜¦π˜³π˜΄ 𝘈𝘱𝘱, available on the Google Playstore, Apple Appstore, and Huawei AppGallery. More information about the app can be found here: https://stellenbosch.gov.za/down…/my-municipal-meters-app/

4) The municipality, like most others, employs a tiered tariff structure for water, where rates are low for lower usage and increase exponentially for higher consumption.

The current water tariff structure is as follows:

0 – 6 kl at R7.19 per kl

>6 – 12kl at R10.89 per kl

>12 – 20kl at R18.42 per kl

>20 – 25kl at R32.75 per kl

>25 – 40 kl at R45.52 per kl

>40 – 70 kl at R72.73 per kl

>70kl at R113.83 per kl

5) Residents or businesses can contact our Finance Team at any time for clarification on their accounts by emailing enquiries.navrae@stellenbosch.gov.za

This graph depicts the tiered tariff system of Stellenbosch Municipality in comparison to a nearby municipality. It is evident that our rates are not only lower but also exhibit a more gradual rate of escalation.
